While his body was ready to be the Hulk, his skin was not, and each day before filming he had to undergo a four-hour transformation, where he was painted green. Now, 37 years after the show first aired, Ferrigno helps to voice the computer-generated version of the character in the blockbuster “Avengers” film franchise.Īs a young man, Ferrigno went from idolizing his favorite muscular comic book characters like the Hulk and Hercules to becoming one of them. David Banner, played by Bill Bixby, morphed into the uncontrollable and unpredictable green beast known as the Hulk, Ferrigno would flex his massive muscles and point his signature scowl at the audience.
The TV show he starred in aired from 1978 to 1982, with 82 episodes over five seasons. While he won’t be dressed in green paint, his physically fit, 6-foot-5-inch frame will be hard to miss.įerrigno took time this week to speak about his nearly 40 years of playing the role of the Hulk, his bodybuilding career and his time as a volunteer law enforcement officer.
